Why diets don't work
You don't need us to tell you that men find dieting very difficult. Virtually all overweight men have tried dieting.
At best they lose some weight, often very quickly. However, because men find most diets
very hard to maintain they are soon broken and more often than not the weight that had
been lost is regained.
Men are creatures of habit. It is virtually impossible to dramatically change your
eating behaviour over night. Also, if you suddenly started to eat less, missed out
meals and went for long periods of time without eating, your body would think that
you were entering a famine period and react by slowing the rate at which it burns
calories to save energy. This means that when you started to eat properly again you
would be at risk of regaining even more weight than you had lost.
Some diets can leave you constantly hungry and resentful that you cannot enjoy your
favourite foods. Eventually hunger wins the day and the diet breaks leaving you feeling a failure.
Remember, fatmanslim is NOT a diet. You can continue to eat the foods you enjoy with
fatmanslim but by making small healthy changes to your life you can aim to lose 10kg
in weight or 10cm from your waist over the 12 weeks of the programme.
